Note to Adversaries of Separating School and Government
Another delightful aspect of SepCon is the presence of adversaries to
this movement.
In fact, Joel Belz, CEO of WORLD Magazine, recently wrote:
"SepCon is the only "cause" conference I know where the sponsors
are so excited about their mission that they invite folks who disagree
with them to appear on the platform. They're that sure that their cause
will prevail.

Evidence of this attitude of openness toward collegial discussion is
reflected in the fact that 9 of the 44 presenters have NOT signed the
Proclamation for the Separation of School and State.
BTW, you can tell who has and who hasn't easily: The
names those who are Signatories are shown in italics on the schedule.
Advocates of "public schooling" enjoy the courtesy and collegial
discussions with our speakers, staff, volunteers, and participants.
Indeed, we even give opponents privileged positions to respond to our
speakers, and have a special session on Sunday morning where adversaries
are invited to grill a panel of Separation proponents.
Favorite adversary Ron Brandt, formerly Senior Editor, A.S.C.D., will be
with us again this year. In the past, we have benefited from the
presence of N.E.A. leaders and state school board members.
Several of us have created such amiable relationships with opponents
that we continue the discourse for years by phone and e-mail, even while
recognizing the immense chasm between our views.
If you are appalled by these ideas and want to check out just what sort
of people are proposing the complete reversal of 164 years of
school-by-government, SepCon is your best opportunity to evaluate just
how serious is this threat to "public schooling."
Find out just what sort of people are the 26,000 who have
signed the Proclamation for the Separation of School and
State, and come to your own opinion if this is perhaps a
large enough snowball to create an avalanche of exodus
from "public schools."
Why not see who in your town, city, state, club, or
religious affiliation has signed the Proclamation? Just

Optional: If you want to guarantee lively discussions at breaks and
meals, please request the optional special colored badge with the
slogan, "Public School Advocate."
This badge gives you preferential treatment during
question and answer periods.
