Speaker Biographies

PAT MARCUM, a sales and marketing consultant, currently represents the nation's largest distributor of homeschool products to the Christian retail market. He is promoting the idea of setting up centers in communities nationwide to provide information on Christian alternatives to government schools. Pat and his wife, Linda, have three grown children, and were homeschooling parents for over 19 years.

JAMES MCDONALD, publisher of Homeschooling Today, is first a Christian, called into the Kingdom in 1979. He is secondly a husband, happily married to his wife, Stacy. He is next a homeschooling father to nine children.

James is also the founder and director of The Patriarch's Path, a ministry dedicated to Christian family issues. In this capacity, he has served the homeschool community as a conference speaker and writer.

A successful businessman who has held several leadership positions in the high technology sector, James is a graduate of the University of Idaho. He has taken numerous postgraduate courses in business, marketing, and biblical studies from various universities.


E. RAY MOORE, JR., Bible Teacher, Army Reserve Chaplain (Ret.), and Campaign Consultant, has served 28 in pastoral ministry as a campus pastor, pastor-teacher in the local church, or as an Army Chaplain. He has served as a speaker-lecturer in a university setting on public policy, church-state and theological subjects. He has worked as a campus pastor at both the University of South Carolina and Purdue University. He is considered an authority on involving Christians in politics and government.

A graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, with a B.A. in political science, Rev. Moore attended Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, with the M.Div. (cum laude) in 1974 and with the Th.M. in 1979.

Rev. Moore served as the Group Chaplain for the 101st Corps Support Group in Saudi Arabia -Iraq during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. For this action he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement. He was placed on retired status in 1999.

He and his wife, Gail, have four children and three grandchildren. They were home-schoolers from 1977-1994 and have a long-term involvement in private Christian Education.

Rev. Moore is the Director of the Exodus Mandate Project, and author of Let My Children Go, his first book.

THOMAS MOORE is a Washington writer, editor, and consultant. He was director of international studies at The Heritage Foundation, served on the Professional Staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and in the Department of Defense. He gained first-hand exposure to the Government school bureaucracy while Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of Education in the Reagan Administration. A native of Charleston, SC, he is a graduate of The Citadel and Georgetown University.
