Linda Schrock Taylor
LINDA SCHROCK TAYLOR, a homeschooling mother, has been a public school special ed teacher for 24 years. Her specialty is teaching children, especially those abandoned by the system, to read, and read well. Naturally, her method-unlike the official one-is based on phonics. To carry out this successful program, which she calls "the most fulfilling work a teacher could ever have," has required an almost constant battle against the public school establishment.

Mrs. Taylor has an MA in English from Central Michigan University, and a BA in Education of the Deaf from the University of Northern Colorado. She is a Core Leader Volunteer for the Mackinac Center; an education columnist for LewRockwell.com; and is writing a plan for educating children without State involvement or control. She presented that paper, "Extramural Education: An Interim Plan" at the 2004 Austrian Scholars Conference at the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama.

JAMES TURNER is a graduate of The Ohio State University School of Law. A principal in the law firm of Swankin & Turner, Mr. Turner represents businesses as well as individuals and consumer groups in a wide variety of regulatory matters concerning food, drug, health, environmental and product-safety matters. He has appeared before every major consumer regulatory agency.

Mr. Turner has served as special counsel to the Senate Select Committee on Food, Nutrition, and Health and to the Senate Government Operations Subcommittee on Government Research. He has also been a policy consultant to major corporations in the food, pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries.

Recently Mr. Turner was the lead attorney on a successful petition to the FDA to reclassify acupuncture needles from Class III to Class II medical devices, permitting their legal importation and distribution.
